Community Service = Asinine

Wed Sep 13, 2006, 11:35 AM
Community Service is asinine. Requiring it for anything is there for asinine. Thus people who require community service is a jackass.

Ok, just a little reflection on my conclusion and what brought it up. NHS has a section for Community Service, it is 20% of the points for admission. You tell me if its fair? It's call national HONORS society for a reason. So, I ask of you, what is the signifigance of community service?
A sense of giving back? Helping your fellow man? Shows good character? You would think these are good reasons. But, wait?? How does any of this help people? How does this show good character?

First off, giving back to your community.
So picking up garbage at your football stadium benefits your community how? I hear you saying that it saves the school money. But, with that money it could fund a janitor. Which benefits the janitor, he /she gets more money whats so bad about that? But, with the budget cuts this is an excellent excuse to make students do the cleaning. Heh, free labor's great..

Now with a sense of giving back. Don't give me that, hardly anyone does it for that reason. They may say it is but, they're only doing it for the awards and recognition. I'm not being cynical. Its true...So many people do volunteer work hoping to get into a college. By, require it anywhere forces the good intitions out. This reasoning goes for helping your fellow man.

Now, requiring it lowers, the quaility and intention. It also cheapens the actual work that people do just to help the community. I mean come on. Its a joke.

Now, you're probably angry and think I'm crazy and lazy. The truth is I haven't done community service. Why? Because I haven't found a medium worthy of help. Key Club, the one of the local service clubs, is a joke. They help the community by helping certian organizations. Its a corrupt organization in the first place. Then there's teen court, which gives teens a slap on the wrist instead of actual punishment. The fact that some people believe its helping teens is kidding to themselves. I have looked for reasonable places to volunteer. Church Groups are crossed out because I'm athiest and they only do it to promote their religion. I also barely have any time to do volunteering. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind helping recycling or the environment but, I haven't found much. I'm also limited by location due to not being able to drive. Which helps no one .

Argh? Err? ARG?!

AP Bonanza

Fri Aug 11, 2006, 7:11 PM
Yay! Since I have a total of 8 AP Classes including Art History online. I ran out of time. I have homework that piles on higher and higher. It's only the FIRST week. It saddens me...It makes me a sad panda(Inside joke...). But lets say I get college credit for them, which is virtually impossible for ALL of them, I would have a total of 24 credit hours + 6 credit hours for AP Euro(For some reason AP Euro is considered Western Civilizations 1 &2) + 6 credit hours for PreCal and Trig I would have a total of 36! Which I hope could mean I skip my freshmen year. But, if I end up going to the college of my choice (it's currently Standford, give it another month and I'll have a new one) I would get a total of 0 college credits. Then again, its an awesome school and I really don't care how long I stay. Worst case sceneraio though would be a crappy state university or worst communtity college....But then I would graduate with my BA/BS(not sure yet...), hopefully, pretty quickly and go on to work on getting my masters. So, I have a win - win in the long run with a LOSE and YOU'RE A FREAKIN IDIOT in the short run. So is it really worth it banking my time on something that might not even happen? Someone said that its the journey that matters not the reward so basically a hectic journey is the real reward for this? So my social life goes down: 1. I don't have lunch with my usually group of friends... 2. I have too much homework... 3. I still have a shy personality in general. Soooo... win - win in future with a lose - lose now. Except when I'm in college watch I do extra work so I can have more free time later...AGAIN.

Now I'm bored and going to watch some tv... I want to watch Psych!!

New Look

I click my bookmark them WHAM! New deviantART? I like the new tech stuff they use but, the graphic design needs some work.
Oh yea, I got school tomorrow so I can't stay up that late. Well, after 3 1/2 - 4 schedule changes I have my final schedule. I am somewhat proud to say that all of my classes start with Advanced Placement. Yes, I was suprised. First off I wanted AP Psychology. Mainly because I had finished the summer work, it was a lot of work, and I want credit for it so I'm adding another AP course which made me have to drop Yearbook. I kind of regret it but, the new sponser is kind of annoying, to be nice. Now that left me with an empty class. So it was either class full of retards, I know I'm being harsh, or AP Environmental Sciences. So know with 7 AP classes the fun never ends plus, the one online. The beginning week of May is going to be hell. Hopefully, I'll be able to organize everything so I will be operating at peak time effientcy. I may lose some sleep but, it would be a worthy trade off. The homework is insane. Will I be able to have free time? Probably not. I like watching the house of cards getting stacked higher and higher. The question is when will it collapse? Could it be tomorrow? next week? year? month? But, if I realize this potential downfall could it be avoided or is it inevitable?
The first four days of school felt more like a month. Unlike other classes, AP starts the first day actually, and when you miss them you're kind of screwed for a while. Now I'm playing catch up in the first week.
Right now, I'm going to sleep....My only source of happiness now?
